Couple of sketches that slipped through the cracks

Here are just a few random sketches that I hadn't posted for some reason or other when I completed them. Always fun to do this kind of stuff.

Beastman low poly art test

I just recently completed an art test and thought I'd go ahead and put the results up here for people to check out. The bottom image is the concept I was sent to work from, so that's not my drawing, just be clear. The rest are turns of the beastie, and the texture map. He's 730 triangles, and 512 x 512 diffuse and specular maps. Doing this test reminded me of a lot of the low-poly challenges on some of the game art forums like Polycount and GameArtisans. Fun stuff. As always, click on the images for a better view! You can see some simple turntable renders here:

This is something I just painted for my dad as a birthday present. He's very much a wildlife lover, and I thought I'd do a painting of one of his favorite animals. This painting is based on the photographic image found below. Unfortunately, I am not sure who the original photographer was, so I'm unable to credit them for this wonderful stoic imagery. I painted this entirely in photoshop working with this image as reference only. If you look closely you can definitely tell it's not an exact replica, nor was it ever meant to be. This was quite a joy to paint. I hope you enjoy the result!

Here are some model turns of the goblin character I'd done some concepts for earlier this year. Currently, I'm in the process of rigging this character in Maya so I can pose him in something other than the pose he was built in. He was a lot of fun to do. Below I've included some turns showing the wireframe as well as the solid model with no textures applied. I also included the 1K map I painted to texture the character with. I deviated a bit from the concept, adding some more detail such as the swirls that appear on his pauldrons.

Goblin Knights, Character design

These are some concepts I did to prep for the next character I'm going to build in 3D. I wanted to do a goblin dressed in ornate armor, and have them be a bit whimsical and fun. I'll be creating a mid to low poly character from at least one of these, but I may do all of them because I'm having a hard time choosing. If I do more than one, then i will change up some of the detailing in the armor as well as change the color scheme from one goblin to the next. These were a lot of fun to paint, can't wait to do some more stuff like this soon.

Koko Sketch

This is a recent sketch I did of Koko the Gorilla for a test. She's the gorilla who uses sign language, in case you haven't heard of her. You can go to http://www.koko.org if you'd like to learn a little more about her.

Higher res Tiburon images

These are some of the shots I used for my final presentation piece with this character, but I kind of felt that those images weren't really high enough resolution to show off the detailing very well. So I thought I'd throw these up too.

Graphics, Logo designs

I did these quite a while ago actually, but I thought I ought to post them as a sample of graphics work. I'm looking for freelance work of all kinds now, so having something that isn't my normal stuff might be helpful to be able to show. I'm going to be playing in Flash again pretty soon, and I'll post some of that stuff too.
